Torre dell'orso
Torre dell’Orso is known for its wide beach of fine silver sand, Torre dell’Orso boasts a particularly clear sea due to the currents of the Canale d’Otranto. Thanks to this feature in the summer the town is frequented by many tourists and has been repeatedly awarded the Blue Flag of Europe for the transparency and cleanliness of the sea.
Le Due Sorelle
In the extreme south of the bay of Torre dell’Orso, a short distance from the beach, there are two stacks , close and similar, called Le due Sorelle . According to the legend, the name derives from two sisters who one day decided to escape the daily grind by seeking refreshment in the sea. When they reached Torre dell’Orso, they plunged from a cliff into the stormy sea, unable to gain shore. The gods, moved to compassion, turned them into the two suggestive stacks.
